2. Analytics (opt-in where required)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which articles are read, where readers come from, and how the Site performs. All data is aggregated and pseudonymized — we cannot identify individual visitors.

If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with opt-in consent requirements, analytics cookies are loaded only after you accept via the cookie banner. You can change your choice anytime by clearing cookies and revisiting the Site.
3. Affiliate tracking (set by partners, not us)
When you click an affiliate link to a partner site, that partner may set a cookie on your device to track whether you complete a qualifying purchase. Rootless Funds does not receive your personal data from these cookies — only aggregated commission reports.
Common partner cookie domains include:

- amazon.com (Amazon Associates tag)

4. Newsletter tracking (only if you subscribe)
Our newsletter platform Beehiiv uses cookies and pixels in email to measure opens, clicks, and engagement. If you don’t subscribe, these are never set. You can unsubscribe from any newsletter email to stop all email tracking.
Cookies we do NOT use
- Ad-targeting cookies for behavioral advertising — we do not run display ads
- Social media tracking pixels (Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, etc.) — none on the Site
- Cross-site profile tracking — we do not link your activity here to other sites
- Fingerprinting — we do not use canvas, font, or device fingerprinting
How to control cookies
In the cookie banner: Accept All, Reject All (non-essential), or customize per category.
In your browser: Most browsers let you block cookies entirely, block third-party cookies, or delete cookies on exit. See:
Browser-level Do Not Track: We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends GPC, we treat it as a rejection of non-essential cookies for that session.
Opt out of Google Analytics specifically: Install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
What happens if you reject cookies?
The Site will still function, but:
- We won’t know which articles are popular (less data-driven editorial decisions)
- Some affiliate purchases won’t be attributed to us (we lose commission — you still get the same product at the same price)
- Editor session features won’t work (only relevant if you’re a team member)
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as we add or remove tools. Material changes will be announced via the newsletter and a banner on the Site. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
